People

I find it quite difficult to photograph people as I don’t like being photographed myself, unless it’s someone I know and trust. If it’s a portrait, I always ask permission first or in some cases, like the two women with the baby in Turkey, I was invited by them to photograph him but whether they knew that they were also in the picture or not, I’ll never know. At least with digital, you can show the person what the image looks like and if they are happy with it, I take that as permission.

There are people I would love to have photographed but I felt that getting a camera out would have changed the atmosphere of the encounter and therefore didn’t take photo’s. Some experiences should just be enjoyed for what they are…photography isn’t the only way to cherish these meetings.
