Canada & USA
I’ve made two trips to visit my lifelong friend Ed and his family. The first was in 1988 and was more of a home based trip. He lives in Fredericton, New Brunswick on the Eastern side of Canada, known as ‘The Maritimes’.
The second trip was in 1990. This time we had set ourselves the massive challenge of driving across Canada, including bits of the US, to Vancouver…and back. We did it in 13 days and needless to say, it was all a bit of a blur. My photographs of this trip are of a poor quality, shot on an Instamatic camera and before I had decided that I was going to take photography more seriously. Fortunately there are just enough reasonable shots for me to feel I could include them here.
My friendship with Ed has often been defined by the trips we’ve taken together…mostly around the UK during stopovers on his way to work in the Middle East. It has recently culminated in our recent trip to Morocco in 2017, which we are still absorbing. Its difficult to put a value on a friendship that goes back 50yrs but Ed is woven into my life and his friendship is incalculable…especially as he left the UK in 1971, to live in Norway and now Canada. Here’s to the next one Ed.
